Earthquake in Costa Rica

On Thursday January 8th, at 1:21 pm, Costa Rica was struck by an earthquake of 6.2 in the Richter scale. The Poas volcano was the epicenter of this earthquake that has left this region in really bad shape. Houses have fallen down, roads are completely destroyed and there is no access to Vara Blanca and parts around the Poas Volcano. The La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens is closed and tourists are trying to get out of there but it is difficult since there is no way to access it by road.
The rest of the country felt the quake but no major damages are reported. Regions like Guanacaste and the Pacific Coast in Costa Rica felt the quake but it was not felt as strong as it was felt in San Jose, Heredia and Alajuela. The Juan Santamaria Intl Airport is working fine and there are no damages reported. The Liberia Airport is working normally and had no damages.

If you are planning to come to Costa Rica, you just need to know that you will not be able to visit the Poas Volcano and any of the attractions close by since this area is chaotic at this time. The rest of the country is fine and there are no major damages and no more earthquakes are expected from this incident.
